Thanks for stopping by the Women’s Assault Prevention Class information on our website. Here at Franklin Family Karate, we offer this free class for women who would like a better understanding of how to handle an assault that could occur in their lifetime. This class helps empower women through knowledge.

As you turn on the news, it seems that all too often, you hear of violence being perpetrated against our female population. Most situations turn out badly…however, every now and then, you hear of a situation where the female fought back and, not only survived, but was relatively unharmed. There is a reason for this: attackers prey on the unsuspecting and perceived weak, and when a woman fights back, the attacker does not anticipate this, and many times will stop because it was not an easy attack. Understand something - attackers are cowards!

The sad truth is that most women feel that this will happen to other people, not them. Unfortunately statistics say otherwise. The very real and outrageous statistics indicate that 1 out of every 3 women will be a victim of some type of physical violence at some point in their life, and usually by someone they know. The most unfortunate point of fact is that most women do not have any idea of how to identify these situations, let alone possess the skills to get out of it should it occur.

The goal of this class is to make you more aware of what is going on around you. We will have discussions, and show you what it feels like to hit targets and go over effective and easy-to-learn self-defense techniques. Remember, this is not just a self-defense class but a lesson in assault PREVENTION and RECOVERY from an attack that could happen to you. Being aware of your surroundings is the first thing to remember, and this class will help you develop that important, potentially live-saving skill. If awareness and avoidance don’t work, we will teach you a skill set through proven self-defense techniques that are designed to give you a 3-5 second opportunity to escape the bad situation. While one class will not make you an expert in self defense, by taking this class, you have taken an important step in personal empowerment.

The class is broken into 5 sections:

  1. STATISTICS

  2. AWARENESS

  3. PRECAUTIONS

  4. CONFRONTATIONS

  5. ATTACK DISTANCES
